Managed Databases (DBaaS)

Okustera Managed Databases (DBaaS) provide fully automated, production-ready relational, in-memory, and document database clusters deployed directly on dedicated NVMe storage fabrics with built-in high availability (HA), automated backups, point-in-time recovery (PITR), and self-healing orchestration.

Supported Database Engines

PostgreSQL 16 (/databases/postgresql)

Enterprise ACID relational database powered by CloudNativePG:

  • Synchronous and asynchronous streaming replication with automated failover in $< 5$ seconds.
  • Continuous WAL archiving to S3 object storage with Barman for Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR).
  • Integrated connection pooling via PgBouncer.
  • Declarative management via Terraform (okustera_database_postgresql).

Valkey In-Memory (/databases/valkey)

High-performance, community-driven open-source in-memory data store and caching engine powered by Valkey 7.2:

  • Complete wire compatibility with standard RESP protocol and client SDKs.
  • 3-node HA architecture with automated Sentinel quorum election and sub-10s failover.
  • RDB snapshots and AOF persistence backed by Ceph NVMe block storage.
  • Automated credential vaulting in OpenStack Barbican KMS.
  • Declarative management via Terraform (okustera_database_valkey).

Qdrant Vector Database (/databases/qdrant)

High-performance, container-native vector similarity engine written in Rust:

  • Dedicated tenant-isolated StatefulSets with on-disk NVMe vector indexing.
  • Scalar quantization reducing RAM usage by up to 90%.
  • Native hybrid search (dense semantic vectors + sparse BM25) and metadata payload pre-filtering.
  • Zero-trust private access: internal ClusterIP on TCP ports 6333 and 6334 (no public exposure).
  • High-entropy API key escrow securely stored in OpenStack Barbican KMS.

MySQL / Galera (/databases/mysql)

Synchronous multi-master MySQL cluster powered by Percona XtraDB Cluster (PXC):

  • True synchronous replication across all nodes with Galera protocol.
  • Zero data loss failover and automatic state transfer (SST/IST).
  • Automated backups via Percona XtraBackup to S3.

MongoDB (/databases/mongodb)

High-performance document database powered by Percona Server for MongoDB (PSMDB):

  • Automated replica set topology with majority voting election.
  • WiredTiger storage engine with snappy compression.
  • Automated physical and logical backups to S3.

High Availability & Quorum Guarantees

All Okustera database engines are engineered with strict Anti-Affinity rules ensuring replicas run on independent hypervisors and storage nodes. During node upgrades or hardware failures, quorum controllers automatically elect replacement leaders with zero human intervention and zero data loss.

Replication, Backups & Disaster Recovery (/databases/backups-and-replication)

For comprehensive technical specifications on:

  • High-Availability Topologies: CloudNativePG streaming replication, Valkey Sentinel quorum, and Qdrant distributed clustering.
  • Continuous WAL Streaming & PITR: Step-by-step Point-in-Time Recovery procedures restoring databases to an exact second.
  • RPO & RTO SLA Commitments: Standard recovery point and time objectives across all database tiers.
  • WORM Anti-Ransomware & Compliance: S3 Object Lock in Compliance Mode, append-only IAM, and GDPR crypto-shredding.

Database Version Upgrades & Maintenance (/databases/version-upgrades)

For full operational runbooks and architectural mechanisms covering:

  • Zero-Downtime Rolling Minor Upgrades: Automated standby-first patching and graceful failover switchovers.
  • Declarative Major Version Migrations: Blue-Green cluster provisioning and logical bootstrap import.
  • Engine Lifecycle: Patching procedures across PostgreSQL, Qdrant Vector DB, MySQL Galera, and Valkey Sentinel.
  • Disaster Recovery Rollbacks: Instantaneous point-in-time recovery and snapshot rollbacks.
